Three years together: thank you to our builders — let’s shape the future!

3 ans ensemble ! Merci à vous. Raymond Kashiba et le logo de la Communauté congolaise Ottawa–Gatineau.

Three years of connection, commitment and building together — that is something to celebrate! On November 3, 2026, the Communauté Congolaise de la Région de la Capitale du Canada marks the third anniversary of its founding general assembly, held on November 3, 2023.

To everyone who has given their time, shared their skills, opened a door or believed in the project: thank you! We are writing this story together.

A message of gratitude and confidence

In his anniversary message, Raymond Kashiba pays tribute to the founders, builders, volunteers, members, teams, board members, families and partners who have supported this journey. He also honours the generations and associations that sustained Congolese community life in the region long before the organization was created.

The full message looks back on the progress made and an ambition that remains: giving our community the means to recognize itself, organize and help shape its future.

Building a community in Ottawa–Gatineau

Offices in Ottawa and Gatineau, educational collaborations, cultural activities, and opportunities to listen and participate: these achievements matter most when they bring people together and strengthen trust.

The opening of the Gatineau office on September 11, 2026, was one such milestone. The message also touches on sport, passing on our shared memory and connections between generations — different ways to strengthen a sense of belonging and our ability to act together.

Looking ahead with confidence

Raymond Kashiba outlines the work underway to distinguish the local community entity from the national organization. The arrangements and their implications will be presented officially once that process is complete.

He also announces his intention to prepare, over the coming months, the handover of his responsibilities at the head of the local organization so that he can devote his experience to building the national organization. This transition must be organized in accordance with the organization’s governing bodies and rules.

His invitation is warm and open: make room for the next generation, support women’s leadership, welcome the energy of young people and pass on the experience of our elders.

On November 21, let’s help shape what comes next!

The general assembly on November 21, 2026, is the next important gathering in our community life. Members are invited to participate, learn about candidacies for available positions and contribute to decisions that affect us all. Participation details are communicated through the Community’s official channels.

To our founders, thank you for believing. To our builders, thank you for staying the course. To the next generation, the path is open!

Happy third anniversary to our Community. Let’s keep building, sharing our experience and coming together with confidence.
